3. Strokes Mastery

Summary

Aim to be able to swim, and then practise, all four competitive strokes, even if you have to adapt them because of injury. Good technique is fundamental to efficient swimming, so keep it front of mind. Watch top-level swimmers for inspiration. Familiarise yourself with World Aquatics rules, and practise swimming according to the rules to avoid a disqualification when you race. Finally, seek guidance from coaches and peers.
