Summary
A training plan isn’t essential for recreational swimming. But if you want to work towards a goal, then you need one. Your plan should address how you get from where you are now to where you want to be. It should be specific and time-bound. However, jumping from goal to goal could be demotivating. A different approach could be to design your training around your values. For this, you need to be clear about why you swim. When you’re swimming, stay focused on the task in hand. Between swims, zoom out and look at the bigger picture. Take responsibility for your swimming development.
