Talking about swimming

All the podcasts I’ve featured on, in one place

We all have our own preferred channels for communication. I’m most comfortable with the written word, both for what I create and what I consume. I like how writing helps clarify my thinking, and I enjoy reading well-constructed ideas. Writing is considered. There’s time and space to review and edit if necessary. I’m one of those annoying people who use full stops and apostrophes in text messages.

But I enjoy talking about swimming too. Podcast conversations are different. There’s an immediacy and rawness to them. It’s nerve-wracking, knowing your words – along with your pauses and ums and errs – are being recorded. But it forces you to think faster. The filters are weakened. I sometimes say things I wouldn’t write.

Over the past few years, I’ve been lucky enough to be invited onto several swimming-related podcasts. Some I’d even forgotten about! I realised recently that I’d never gathered them in one place, so here they are.

If you’re a podcast fan, I hope you’ll find something worth listening to below. But don’t just stop with my episodes. These podcast hosts have produced a fantastic catalogue of conversations with swimmers, coaches and adventurers from across the swimming world.

So, brew yourself a tea, plug in your headphones, and dive in.
